Our Story

In the wake of the devastating Seeker Sensitive movement that engulfed High Point, NC in the early 2000's several families from various churches began meeting and praying for a revival of solid / relevant Biblical teaching.  When one local pastor preached from the Velveteen Rabbit one Sunday, that was the last straw for many.  The Bible had become neglected at best, and optional at worst.  These families prayed regularly together for a year and then God placed it on their hearts to start a new church that was dedicated to expository teaching, vibrant worship, authentic relationships, and filled with Grace and Truth.  DBC held its first public service on September 16, 2006.  During the next 3 years, Discovery sought God's leadership for a pastor.  Mike Wynn became the interim pastor in January of 2009 and was later confirmed as the first pioneer pastor of Discovery in June of that year.  Since then our church has grown deeper in our walk with Jesus and each other.  We invite you to join us and Discover for yourself how rich God's Word can be in your life.
