I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home and love calling NC my home. I was called to ministry when I turned 15 and have a passion for teaching the deep truths of God's Word to believers. I believe that missions is the mission of any Bible-believing church and all church ministries must have the Great Commission as their driving purpose. I have a passion for planting churches in the US and around the world. I also have a passion for Christian education for children, youth, college students, and young adults.
I believe that too many churches have become so seeker driven that they no longer resemble a church and some churches are so members-only focused, they have become irrelevant to the lost. Church worship services should primarily focus on challenging, encouraging, and equipping “world Christians” for the work of ministry, while simultaneously being welcoming to non-believers.
A church’s success is directly related to its commitment to prayer, transparency among leaders, a clearly communicated vision and a consistent message. I value relevant and engaging expository preaching, discipleship, dynamic and authentic worship, small groups, community outreach through service, and a team-based approach to ministry where leaders are free to use their God-given gifts, personalities, and passions to shepherd Gospel-centered followers of Christ.

I graduated from Columbia Bible College (Columbia International University) with a B.A. in Bible and Pastoral Ministries. I then attended Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated in 2003, with a Th.M. degree in Pastoral Leadership. I have been married to my incredible wife, Genny, since 1995. Together, we have 2 amazing sons, Caleb and Noah. I have been the pastor of Discovery Bible Church since January, 2009. I love computers, technology, UNC Basketball, SyFy, and I am a terrible golfer.
